What happens during the first consultation?
We’ll listen first—what you want to improve, how you use the space, and what problems you’re dealing with (sinking pavers, drainage, outdated layout, etc.). Then we measure, review color/pattern preferences, and help shape a clear plan for your project.
Can you help me choose paver colors and patterns?
Absolutely. If you already have inspiration photos, we’ll help you refine them into a plan that fits your home. If you’re unsure, Zion has a strong design eye and can create a vision based on your property, layout, and the look you want.
Do you provide a written estimate?
Yes. Your estimate is based on measured square footage, your paver selection/materials, and the installation scope.
How does payment work?
Your estimate is built around two main components:
-
Materials (pavers and related products)
-
Installation labor
The customer pays for the materials. Once materials are paid for and delivered on-site, Zion schedules and completes the installation.
Why do materials need to be paid for upfront?
Pavers are special-ordered and priced based on your selection and quantity. Paying for materials upfront ensures the exact materials you chose are secured and delivered for your project.
How far out are you booking?
Scheduling depends on current workload and material lead times. Once materials are delivered, we coordinate the install date and keep the project moving efficiently.

What should I do to prepare my property?
Before install day, it helps to:
-
Move vehicles from the driveway/work area
-
Clear furniture, planters, and décor
-
Provide access for materials and equipment
If anything special is needed (gate access, pet considerations, HOA rules), we’ll talk through it up front.
Will the work area be cleaned up after the job?
Yes. We keep the work site organized and aim to leave your property clean and ready to enjoy when the project is complete.
Installation Quality, Base Prep, Drainage
What makes paver installation last longer?
Longevity comes from proper prep and precision: correct excavation depth, a stable compacted base, accurate grading, clean edges/restraints, and tight alignment during installation.
Do pavers settle over time in Florida?
They can—especially with poor base prep, drainage issues, or washout after heavy rain. That’s why proper base work and drainage planning are so important up front.
Do you address drainage and runoff?
Yes. We look at how water moves across your property and help ensure the paver surface is installed with appropriate pitch and drainage considerations to reduce pooling and washout.
Do you use edging/edge restraints?
When applicable, yes—edge restraints help prevent spreading, shifting, and loss of alignment over time.
How do you prevent weeds between pavers?
Weeds are usually caused by wind-blown debris and organic material in joints. Good jointing sand, proper finishing, and routine maintenance help reduce weeds. If you choose polymeric sand, it can help lock joints more tightly.
Do you recommend polymeric sand?
Often, yes—depending on the application and conditions. It helps firm up the joints and reduce washout. We’ll recommend the best option for your project.
Should pavers be sealed?
Sealing is optional. Some homeowners prefer sealing for appearance and easier cleanup; others skip it. We can guide you based on your paver type, location (pool deck vs driveway), and how you want it to look long term.
Repairs (Resetting, Leveling, Replacing)
What kinds of paver repairs do you offer?
Common repairs include:
-
Resetting and re-leveling sunken or uneven sections
-
Replacing cracked or damaged pavers
-
Correcting shifting edges and alignment issues
-
Restoring stability where joints have washed out
Do I need to replace my whole paver area if it’s uneven?
Not always. Many issues can be fixed by repairing the affected area—especially if the majority of the surface is still in good shape.
Why do pavers sink or become uneven?
Common causes include:
-
Base settling or poor compaction
-
Drainage problems or water washout
-
Soil movement
-
Heavy loads (especially on driveways)
We look for the root cause, not just the symptom.
Can you match my existing pavers for a repair?
We will do our best. If your pavers are still available, matching is typically straightforward. If they’re discontinued, we can recommend close-match options and blending strategies.
How long do paver repairs take?
It depends on the size and severity of the issue. Many repairs can be completed efficiently once the scope is confirmed.
Will repaired areas look different?
Our goal is to make repairs look seamless. If an exact paver match isn’t available, we’ll discuss your options clearly before moving forward.
Driveway Pavers
Are pavers strong enough for vehicles?
Yes—when installed correctly with the right base and paver thickness. Driveways require a stable foundation designed for vehicle loads.
What pattern is best for driveway strength?
Patterns like herringbone are commonly used for driveways because they interlock well under vehicle stress. We’ll recommend the best pattern for your design and performance needs.
Can you widen my driveway or add a paver apron?
Yes. Many homeowners choose to widen a driveway, add a border, or install a clean paver apron for better function and curb appeal.
Patios & Outdoor Living
Can you design a patio that fits how we use the space?
Yes. We can help plan for seating, grilling, walk paths, and transitions to the yard—so the patio feels intentional and functional.
Are pavers a good choice around a pool?
Yes—pavers are popular for pool decks because they look great, can be repaired in sections if needed, and create a high-end outdoor feel when installed properly.
Can you fix sinking pavers around a pool deck?
Yes. If areas around the pool have settled, we can often reset and re-level those sections to restore a safe, clean surface.
Walkways & Sidewalks
Can you fix trip hazards or uneven walkway pavers?
Yes. Uneven areas are a common repair request. We re-level affected sections to improve safety and appearance.
Can you build curved walkways?
Yes. Curved walkways are a great way to add visual appeal and guide visitors naturally to your entry or outdoor spaces.
Maintenance & Aftercare
How do I maintain my pavers after installation?
Basic maintenance typically includes:
-
Occasional rinse/cleaning
-
Keeping joints clear of debris
-
Addressing weeds early if they appear
-
Avoiding harsh chemicals that may discolor certain pavers
When can I walk or drive on new pavers?
We’ll give you guidance at completion based on your specific install, but in many cases foot traffic is fine shortly after completion, and driveways may have a short wait period depending on finishing steps.
What if I have questions after the job is done?
We’re here to help. If you have a concern about a section, drainage behavior after rain, or maintenance questions, reach out and we’ll advise you on next steps.
